NTNU is Norway’s leading technical university. It has 7 faculties and 53 departments with approximately 20000 students; half of these are studying technology or natural sciences. NTNU has a staff of nearly 5000 persons, with more than 2900 in academic or scientific positions. The Department of Marin Technology (IMT) and Department of Geology and Mineral Resources Engineering (IGB) are part of the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology at NTNU. IMT encompasses marine activities tied to Norway’s largest industries, i.e. oil and gas, fisheries technology, aquaculture, marine engineering and associated industries. IGB offers education and research within geology and ore geology, mining and engineering geology.
